The 411: the key to the seasonal clothes swap
Yesterday I was wearing green shorts and a navy shirt. Today I am wearing navy shorts and a green shirt. Yeah, my wardrobe is exciting. Ever since I started staying home I think I have made a real effort to shower and dress almost everyday. I told my BFF last week that I allow myself one PJ day a week and that usually falls on Thursday for some reason.
Well, dressing efforts aside, I am aware of the fact that Spring is invading on Winter’s territory and we are seeing warmer and warmer days here in Chattanooga. Yesterday I kept the doors open all day, letting the sunshine fill the house and Fuller run in and out as he pleased. As I said, I was wearing shorts. Fuller was wearing corduroy pants. A bit different in the seasonal wear, for sure.
One of the activities that I hate is the swapping of the clothes each fall and spring. We don’t have enough room to keep all the clothing out all year, so it becomes a big thing to take out all the clothes, go into the attic, bring down the next seasons clothes, and then put away the old clothes, put them back into the attic, and then make sure all the clothes get into the correct drawers. I hate this ritual with a passion that usually ends up with clothes piled around the house for days. I procrastinate a bit, yes.
Anyway, all this is to say that organization is key and having the proper tools to keep organized keeps this parent sane. And it helps that like those who salivate over office products (pens especially), I salivate at the site of plastic bins, organizational baskets, and cute fabric covered boxes. (I also salivate over entertainment centers, but that is a dream I am holding off until we get our new couch.)
So, I offer to you my favorite websites to salivate over organization.
Space-Savers ~ This site is full of function and inspiration.
The Container Store ~ I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t visit this place and salivate.
Ikea ~ We went to the Atlanta Ikea on Saturday and I wish we could have brought home one of their closet systems- for our attic. We have several of their KASSETT boxes for CDs and photos, plus a craft storage system we created out of six of their FIRA mini chests.
Stacks and Stacks ~ When we remodeled our kitchen, I spent a lot of time on this site. It has great clothing storage ideas as well.
Our system for storing clothes in the attic is clear, large, plastic bins with latching lids. I prefer clear so I can see the clothes I am dealing with. How do you keep organized with your family’s clothes?
