So, how about some first hand information?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Unless you’ve had your head stuck in the sand (like my husband) you probably realize that many parenting bloggers are women.  So, on the rare occasion that I find a good read on a blog that is written by the dad.  So, I decided, the time is nigh.  Here’s a brief intro and then I’ll get you the goods.

The site I am introducing you to is daddeeyah.  He has a blog and he writes it from the father’s point of view.  He calls it this “collection of my own experience & gathered knowledge on all things related to parenting: must-have baby gear, medical & medicinal knowledge (& hopefully regular contributions from the pediatrician in the family), musings of the day, etc.”

I would highly recommend you go to his site and at least read the about section and then his site is easy to navigate so you can just jump in and start reading after that little bit of background.  With that, here’s a couple of posts that Daddeeyah called out as his favorites, go read, see what you think, because I really enjoyed it.

First, You are four years old today.. and since my kids are playing hookie, or my one child is playing hookie tomorrow, I enjoyed reading the whole idea of doing things with my kids while they are still kids because we all know what happens right?  Yea, t

hey grow up.  So, give Doing stuff with the kids..

And, speaking of school, it’s a tough transition and here’s what daddeeyah had to say about it First day back at school and multi-lingual kids

The Obama Children

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

President Obama was asked by Parade Magazine to write an open letter to his children.  He chose to write a letter to his girls, his children and all the children across America.  I may lose readers because of this, but I fully support our new President.  I supported our last President.  And, the one before that.  Why?  Because the leader of the Free World deserves the respect of the people.  He has taken himself to a place where we have given him the liberty to lead our country and he deserves our support.

With that, the Obama children will have this letter from their father to take with them for the rest of their life.  They know who they are.  They know who there father is.  They know that they are loved.  I can’t imagine our President backing away from his family and not supporting them in any of their challenges.  Thus, I’m going to ask that you don’t back down.  Support our President because he is our President.

The 411: Playdate ready or not

Friday, June 15th, 2007

We are hosting a playdate here at the house today. I have tidied up the house, let the roomba do its thing, and gave a reluctant Fuller a bath.

Let me ask you something. How do you define a “playdate?”

A while ago, when I was still working and Damon was the stay at home parent, I suggested that he ask if a certain little boy could come over and play with Fuller. This little boy was about two months older than Fuller. I my mind, the playdate would be a parent dropping off their child in our care for a few hours. The kids would play with Damon’s supervision.

But when we actually did the asking, the answer came back with a “how’s that work?” The parents of the little boy were thinking that both the child and the parent would stay, and since it was a SAHD and a SAHM that seemed kind of improper. And I guess at that age (around 19 months) it seemed odd to drop a child off at someone else’s house to play. Maybe. I’m just guessing here.
