The Greatest Sites of All Time

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Do you want to meet some great women?  Mothers, grandmothers?  Do you want to get some advice about parenting, blogging, marriage, whatever, I can get you in touch with some people who know.

I attended Blissdom in Nashville this weekend and I met some of the greatest and most wonderful women I have ever known.  So, slowly but promptly, I’m going to point you in the direction of some bloggers that can help you find the information or help that you are looking for.

So, today, I start with….Casey from Moosh in Indy.  I have to tell you that when I saw her all dressed up, I wasn’t so sure how much she had to teach me.  She’s a sprite little 26 years old in her looks but in her mind and her knowledge, she is that of a woman greater than my 82 year old grammy.  This woman is a motivator, she is a teacher and she is real.  She is as real as you and I.  Go ye and find her lest you miss out on one of the greatest treasures out there.

No kidding ladies…she is all that and a candy bar too!

Next, I want you to meet Short Pump Preppy or Linda. She is the reason I was able to meet the people I met.  I hit Nashville with big plans but scared to death.  But, because this woman invited me to dinner, I was able to meet some great people who put me on the right track.  Don’t miss out on her.

Next, a woman with children much older than mine, a woman who appears to barely look any where near my age and she is making attempts to go places that I would never want to go.  She wants to be the voice for children who can’t tell you what’s going on in their own lives.  And, until you have met Pensieve Robin, then you are totally missing the boat.

I don’t have a photo of Robin but you can find one on her site..go check the chick out!

Moving right along….at least I’m trying

Yes I know I have been stuck in an Obama-fest but the time to move on is close.  I’ll be back to reality soon..  For now, I have to learn to tame my own children while the Obama’s do the same.  And, you know, this week I’m going to learn from the First Lady.  I’m going to give you some tips that have been given for the First Lady on iVillage.

One reader comments that the most important thing they can do as parents is to cherish their private time and spend it with their children.  I’m sure with the attitude that the First Lady has taken thus far, insisting that the children attend a private school instead of a public school means that she is going to do her best to protect their private lives as much as possible.  And, I’m not so sure that’s possible when you are the First Family.

Like me, many readers believe that the Obama’s need to keep doing what they’ve done thus far.

President Obama has made it clear, the children are our future

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Yes, I’m still talking about this.  I’m sorry, I can’t get past it.  Our President is a lover of children.  Does that mean that our previous Presidents were not?  Of course not, but for some reason, his love for children, his own and others radiates from our new President.  Just as I say I can feel the love when he takes his wife’s hand when he walks beside her, I can see the genuine love for children in his eyes.

I watched a interview of him with his wife and children several months back and his children were badgering him about leaving his suitcase in the front hall when he returned from trips.  He laughed and said that he did this so he could get to them for hugs and kisses quicker.  I believe him.

On Monday, he painted a wall at the Sasha Brown shelter for at-risk kids.  Monday, the holiday that most American’s took, our President-elect (at that time) painted a wall at a shelter for children.  Can you say you did the same?

Britney Spears loses custody of her kids

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Britney SpearsWhen I saw this news yesterday, I wish I could say I was surprised.  But I sort of knew it was only a matter of time. Superior Court Judge Scott M. Gordon ruled yesterday that Britney must surrender her children Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2, to their father Kevin Federline by Wednesday.  It sounds like a temporary order for now, but I think it could easily become permanent if Brit doesn’t clean up her act.

Earlier in September, the same judge expressed concerns about Brit’s lifestyle and ordered her to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week in order to keep her children.  She was also ordered to see a parenting coach who would observe her parenting skills and report back to the court.  She was also to attend parenting classes with Federline but it’s unclear whether those classes had begun yet or not.

There is much speculation that the children were removed from her custody because she failed her drug test.  I have to admit, it certainly is looking to be the case.  In which case I’m not just sorry for her and her inability to get a grip on her life, but her children as well.  They deserve better from their mother.

I can only hope that this will be the wake up call she needs in order to get her life back in order.  I’ve heard that after surrendering her children yesterday (two days ahead of schedule), that she went out on the town to party.  I’m hoping that’s because she was feeling down about the turn of events and not because she felt “free at last”.  It’s just a shame that Brit doesn’t seem to realize being a parent means a lot more than just giving birth.

Kevin Federline files for sole custody

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I’m very sorry for the lack of posts the last day or so and the sporadic loading of this site. Apparently there have been some server issues that are out of 451Press.com’s control. Looks like everything is starting to work again so that’s a very good thing! I hope I’m able to get this post up before things go bad again! Again, very sorry and thanks for your patience!

Kevin and BritneyAnyhow, I’m going to dip into the realm of celebrity gossip today, simply because this particular story both disturbs and fascinates me. I NEVER thought I would see the day where I viewed Kevin Federline a more appropriate parent than Britney Spears but here we are. Kevin Federline, just mere weeks after his divorce from Britney has been finalized, has filed for sole custody of their sons, Jaden James and Sean Preston. Here are a couple sites reporting the “big news” and I’m still stunned by it. Mostly because my reaction is, “Good! I hope he gets it!” and if you’d asked me a year ago if I would have ever thought anything about K-Fed was redeeming, I would have told you that you were nuts.  But judging from Brit’s behavior of late, I am starting to wonder if she’s really in a position to properly care for these kids.  K-Fed has kept a low profile and in the public eye, seems to be a better choice for sole custody of these children.  It’s a shame it has come to this, but what else are we to think?

Anyhow, if you’re interested in learning more about the situation, visit any of the sites I linked above to read more and join in the discussion.  Was this the right move to make? I can’t help but think that yes, yes it was.
